GOOD DAY ALL-ROUND FOR
STANSTED

Essex Senior League club Stansted dug deep into
their reserves of character and courage to fashion a
late winner in Saturday`s pulsating Hargrave Park
contest with table-topping Burnham Ramblers.
Danny Cornwell's header from a curling free kick from
skipper Andy Oxby on 87 minutes gave the Airportmen the
verdict at 3-2 after coming back from a 1-2 half time
deficit.
Stansted boss Terry Spillane (pictured) was delighted
with his players` resilience against a top class Leslie
Field outfit and said that he had made a significant
signing over the weekend with former Waltham Abbey
midfielder Jason Francis checking in at least until the
end of the season.
Former Chelsea youth team player Spillane, now in
charge for four seasons at Hargrave Park, added that
Francis had a good pedigree in the game at senior
level, albeit having not played during the current
campaign. But at aged 23, still has much to offer - his
all round contribution fitting into Stansted`s system
effectively.
Spillane added that Francis had trained with his side
during the last six weeks, during which time he had
monitored his progression. But with games coming up
thick and fast, the decision was made to get him to put
pen-to-paper ahead of the Burnham game.
And to complete a good day all round for Stansted on
Saturday, Essex League chairman Robert Errington paid
warm compliment to long-serving Stansted chairman Terry
Shoebridge towards the excellent all-round efforts
towards ground grading procedures put in place ahead of
the March 31st deadline after a walk around the pitch
perimeter and surrounds.
Only some cosmetic surgery is required to meet
continued ESL membership for next term.
