LANGFORD FC 0 - 1 STANSTED FC
(DWIGHT GAYLE 23 Minutes)
PRE-SEASON FRIENDLY MATCH, PLAYED AT FORDE PARK,
LANGFORD
SATURDAY THE 17TH JULY 010
Stansted played their first Pre-Season warm up game against
excellent opposition. Forde Park, indeed a quality match day
environment, team Boss Terry Spillane being in genuine upbeat
mood because the Bedfordshire "away day" had been such a
success on all fronts, ahead of the next installment of
Friendly action at London Colney on Tuesday night (20th
July).
Saturday saw a large Hargrave Park playing contingent in almost
every instance get at least half a game collectively under
their belts.
The result itself being an additional bonus to our playing
staff and management team for an afternoons endeavour that
mirrored the first class contribution being put in on the
training ground, there being a definite sparkle and spring in
step no question about that, with all round positivity
from all of those wearing the blue shirt of Stansted with such
immense pride.
Apart from the winning goal itself, a header from Dwight Gayle
after being played in by a trade mark Andy Oxby free kick, both
sides created a number of genuine chances, albeit we had two
goals "ruled out" and hit the woodwork three times, our hosts
not far behind on two occasions.
The chemistry about our match play gave out really positive
vibes and Terry wished to place on record genuine all round
appreciation to Langford FC, in every respect making the valid
point they were, as always, a credit by the way they conducted
themselves as a club both on and off the field of play.
In conclusion, a number of newly signed personnel gave a good
rendition of the fact they were well capable of making a major
contribution towards the fast approaching 2010/11 campaign. All
in all, Saturday well worth it, and a good pointer to sign off
ahead of Tuesday evening.
