Essex Senior League champions
Stansted travel to Langford on Saturday as a prelude to
forthcoming warm up games also on the road at London
Colney, Tuesday the 20th and Rushden & Higham
United of the Hereward Teamwear United Counties League
on Saturday, July 24th.
Delighted team boss Terry Spillane (pictured)
confirmed that further new blood had checked in with
the Hargrave Park club, whilst another old favourite,
John Bricknell, had also put pen-to-paper.
Bricknell is a big player on the Stansted scene.
Formerly with Ryman League Division One North side
Leyton, his goalscoring prowess and ability to take
defenders on makes him a firm favourite with the home
faithful.
The impressive front runner played a major role in
last season`s title success and the family ties will be
further strengthened with Dave Bricknell - first-team
coach - a long-serving member of its on field
management structure but now also seeing John's 16 year
old brother Joe Bricknell, a left-sided midfielder with
massive potential, join the Step 5 outfit with the
brief to gain vital experience in Mark Penfold`s
talented reserve side.
Also checked in at Hargrave Park is 21-year-old Lee
Garrity, a right-sided midfielder who his new boss sees
as a player with excellent vision.
Garrity played a number of matches for SSML Premier
Division Colney Heath in the previous term but looks to
become an established senior player in the forthcoming
term and joins brother Matt, who is already at
Stansted.
