RUSHDEN & HIGHAM UNITED FC 0 - 3 STANSTED FC
                                                                                               (Dwight Gayle 3, 35 Kevin Vallis 65)

PRE-SEASON FRIENDLY MATCH - SATURDAY 24th JULY 2010

VENUE: HAYDEN ROAD, RUSHDEN, NORTHANTS

All in all, a very successful work out against our week-end match day host's who ply their trade in the step 6, United Counties League Division One.

There being very much a sharpness and vibrancy about our all round general pattern of play, which speaks volumes for all the hard work put in on the training ground which is standing us in such fine fettle.

Rushden to their credit worked extremely hard themselves, never threw in the towel and kept it up as a meaningful contest right up until the final whistle.

Our goals in each and every instance were well crafted, the first putting our noses in front after Aaron Best won the ball in the middle of the Park threading it through to Vinnie Durrant wide on the left flank, Danny Cornwell also being involved in the "assist process" playing in Dwight Gayle to pick his spot to rifle past keeper Allington into the right sided corner.

Home custodian Allington had a more than decent game keeping his side in it before another high octane combination that saw Cornwell very much the "provider" for goal number two, a great turn and twist from the left sided penalty area byline before lofting the ideal ball holding its legs for long enough, Dwight Gayle steaming up in support to head firmly into the right sided roof of the net.

HALF TIME: RUSHDEN AND HIGHAM UNITED 0   STANSTED 2

Second half and despite ringing the most necessary changes, this was still excellent all round fare from our players, typified by the third and final goal from Kevin Vallis coming on at the interval in a revamp of the front line.

Vallis taking his goal marvelously well, crisp shot from the edge of the box well worth getting his name on the scoresheet.

Many plus marks today, with Danny Hopkins such an industrious performer putting the "big shift" in. Lee Garrity showing he has what it takes and business as usual from a very competent first team squad.
